The Cray-1 is widely regarded as the first supercomputer (though definitions vary). In 1976 it sold for $10M and used 115kW of power, but today it is slower than the oldest Raspberry pi. In 1993 Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory sold their Cray-1 to Tony Cole for only $10,000. I bought a memory and logic board from the Cray-1, Cray-XMP, and the Cray-2. In some of the images you can see the original oil used to cool the system.
